FP7 Energy Call 2013 Part 2
BackA technological shift in the EU's current energy system is necessary to achieve the 2020 targets and realise the 2050 ambitions to largely decarbonise energy and transport sectors. There is an urgent need of bringing new, high performance technologies to the market and to ensure the European leadership on low carbon energy technologies. The scale of investment, the high demand for cutting-edge research capacities and the global nature of technology markets require a European approach to energy research and innovation. Activities in this work programme contribute to supporting European Energy and Climate Policy initiatives, the implementation of the SET-Plan – its Industrial Initiatives as well as its Research and Innovation agenda – while completing the portfolio of FP7 activities and bridging to Horizon 2020, the next EU Research and Innovation Framework Programme.
